ORGANIC PEARS
The Williams has the classical bell shape and a smooth surface. The skin is a greenish-yellow and somewhat reddened. The soft white pulp has a delicate, sweet taste.
The Packham?s (not illustrated) has a pale green skin and the white, soft, juicy pulp with a taste similar to the William?s.
QUALITYNOTE
Pears ripen very quickly at normal temperatures and the storage period is therefore limited. When cooled to about 0° C, it can be extended to 1-5 months and extended even further under CA conditions with temperatures between 0.6-1.7° C a relative humidity of 90-95 % and 0-1 % carbon dioxide.
