TRACEABILITY FROM THE P.O.S. TO THE PRODUCER

		CODE ON THE BANANA After the crop, all banana clusters are provided with a sticker. This sticker shows the brand logo and the individual producer?s code which clearly identifies the grower. CODE ON THE CARTON After packing the banana in cartons, these cartons are provided with a barcode sticker that includes the encrypted producer?s code and the encrypted packing date. BARCODE SCANNING When arriving at the European port of arrival, the barcodes of all cartons are automatically scanned and stored in a data base. Therefore the further way of each carton can be tracked individually. AT THE P.O.S. At the supermarket the consumer will find the web address for further product information and the producer?s code on the banana in addition to the brand logo. INTERNET Accessing the web site on the PC, the customer can enter the producer?s code and reach the portrait of the grower who harvested the purchased banana.
